The Placentia/Cape Shore area and the RCMP build ties during Police Week.

Community-based activities geared toward building strong relationships between our community and the RCMP is the focus of Police Week, being launched on May 9th 2010 by S/Sgt Patrick Cahill, District Commander, Placentia-Whitbourne district. This important week begins May 9, 2010 and runs until May 15, 2010. It reflects the community-based approach being followed by police agencies across the country. Everyone is invited to participate. Several events are planned during this week:

May 9th - Opening of the event. Members of the district will be conducting positive re-enforcement check points in the area. They will recognize and congratulate drivers practicing safe driving techniques and will educate the motoring public on the rules of the road and proper driving etiquette.

May 10th - The Placentia Detachment will be hosting an open house. The general public is welcomed to attend the detachment for tours of the building and to meet members of the detachment. Refreshments will be provided.

May 11th - Members of the Detachment will play a game of ball hockey against youth at the P4 Centre in Dunville. Members of the public are invited to watch the game.

May 12th - Members of the Detachment will play a game of basketball against the St-Anne's Saints junior boys basketball team. Students of the school will watch the event. A $1 entry fee will be collected. All proceeds will be going to charity.

May 13th - Members of the Detachment will play a game of Basketball against the boys junior basketball team at Fatima academy.

May 14th - A car seat information clinic will be held at the detachment. Trained staff will be on site to provide information on the proper installation and use of car seats. Members of the public with children or who carry children in their vehicle are invited to attend this free session
